One day Raku firing
Sat 8th Nov
10am to 4pm
You will need your pots to be bisque fired in advance and you will need to use a grogged clay body to withstand the thermal shock of the raku process. If you are not sure of what clay to use please get in touch. You will be able to fire up to five pieces within the sizes 25cm tall and 15cm wide. Taller narrower shapes you can fit in easier in to the kiln. Please no plates or wide bowls as they take up too much footprint in the kiln. If you have smaller pieces you can usually fit in a few more. If you want to try naked raku using horse hair and feathers its best to prepare your pots before bisque firing by burnishing them to create a polished surface. I like to use a porcelain slip for the contrast with the white and smoke effects. Again if you have any questions please ask.
Please bring a packed lunch. Water, tea and coffee will be provided.
